Assistant/Associate Professor, Criminal Justice, Governors State University

Governors State University has dynamic, growing undergraduate and graduate criminal justice programs with specialties in law enforcement and security, corrections and community corrections, law enforcement technology, leadership, problem-solving, and community and restorative justice. We seek applications for a tenure-track faculty position in our Criminal Justice Program at the assistant or associate professor level.

Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate courses, and may include such topics as theory (crime and organization theory), crime prevention and problem-oriented policing, leadership, organizational development, research methods, community-oriented justice, criminal justice technology, corrections, and community corrections.

Other responsibilities will include: recruiting students into the new graduate program in criminal justice, online curriculum development, advising undergraduate and graduate students, supervising student internships and graduate projects, teaching at off campus locations (Chicago, River Grove, Naperville), and working with faculty in the program and in other disciplines on basic and applied research grants.

The campus and surrounding community enjoy the excellent cultural offerings of Governors State University's Center for Performing Arts, as well as its acclaimed Nathan Manilow Sculpture Park.

Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D. in criminal justice or a related field, with substantial college-level teaching experience required. Candidates should demonstrate excellence in the following areas: teaching in one or more of the topics identified above, research and grant writing, and scholarly writing.

Preferred Qualifications
Graduate teaching experience, practical experience in the justice field (or related work experience), research experience, and teaching on line.
