The Crime Prevention Program Administrator for the Office of Neighborhood Involvement, which will begin in November 2012, is responsible for designing, implementing and managing specialized crime prevention and community education programs located in City neighborhoods. The vacant position is one of twelve Crime Prevention Program Administrators in the Office of Neighborhood Involvement's Crime Prevention Program and is assigned to neighborhoods in the north and northeast areas of Portland. Duties include designing, developing, implementing and managing programs and funding to address the special needs of a vulnerable population or a specific geographical area and representing the Office of Neighborhood Involvement and the City to the community, outside agencies and the public on specialized crime prevention issues. The position will be required to attend community meetings in the evening and on weekends. The Crime Prevention Program Administrator serves as a representative of the Office of Neighborhood Involvement and the City and is expected to carry out their individual responsibilities with initiative, independence and creativity while exercising sound professional judgment and problem-solving skills. Although not required, knowledge, skills and abilities of community organizing methods, experience with group facilitation, and the ability to speak Spanish, Russian or other languages in addition to English are desirable.
