Department:  Department of Community Corrections and Rehabilitation 

The primary duties and responsibilities of these positions include:
•Act as a role model and a residential counselor for juvenile residents

•Partner with co-workers to plan, organize, administer, and supervise resident daily activities, such as recreation, school and volunteer programs, and leisure activities

•Enforce resident related policies; record incidents, positive and negative, in appropriate logs and reports

•Keep the institution safe for staff and residents by building relationships, employing de-escalation techniques, using verbal commands and force when necessary

•Orient residents to the institution

•Supervise and check-in visitors on visiting days

•Receive/release juveniles from facility; may transport residents to appointments with county vehicle

•Establish healthy relationships with residents in the institution

•Acknowledge and reward residents when they are doing something right and hold them accountable when they do something wrong
•Recognize and respect cultural differences and provide culturally appropriate services
