Comment by Wendy Bateman on April 30, 2012 at 13:11 I am just looking at your question asking 'why women commit crime'...This would vary depending on the type of crime: Kill, sexually assault, petty theft, criminal damage, fraud etc The explanations are so interesting!!
Comment by Wendy Bateman on April 30, 2012 at 13:08 Hi ladies, I am new to this forum & hope you are all well. However, the topic of female offenders is of great interest to me esp when considering domestic abuse (not just the physical aspect). I have just started to explore the concept of social history re gender expectations and social norms. I do however agree that the criminal justice system is blind to gender which can have a positive or negative impact on the outcome....What are your thoughts regarding IPV manipulation / coercion within a relationship/ex...have you come across this perhaps with female friends or female family members :-) ?

Comment by rumeysa on April 6, 2012 at 8:02 Hi Clare, thank you for comment for my topic. I want to learn for about how works makes with female offenders in united kingdom. and I want to compare with Turkish study. What do you think?
Comment by Clare Rogers on April 5, 2012 at 10:14 I think with female offenders there are a wider variety of mitigating factors that need to be taken into account for when they are found guilty of committing crime. Its proven that women commit less violent crime than men and are very likely to be caught shop lifting, whether it be to feed a habit or their children. Women are more likely to do the wrong thing for the right reason.
