How can I create or contribute to a discussion?
To contribute to a discussion click on “Forum” and pick a topic that interests you. You can create your own topic by clicking on “Start a Discussion” or respond to any of the postings by clicking on reply to this.
How do I upload a poster?
To upload your meeting presentations, click "Add a Post" and add your title, descriptive text, and searchable tags. You can upload your poster as a PowerPoint, PDF, text, or graphic file, and it will appear as an attachment below your descriptive text. Remember to add your contact information.
How do I post to the job board?
Just click on "Add a Post". Remember to include a job title and location in the title of your submission. Add the job description in the text box or upload a file, and add searchable tags to help job seekers find your posting.Remember to add your contact information.
How do I create a group?
To create a group click on the "Network" tab, and choose "Groups" from the drop-down menu. On the main creation page, you will be able to choose "Moderated Membership" under Privacy. If chosen, no one will be able to join your group or view its activities without your approval. "Closed" groups are a useful feature .You can use closed groups to work projects, make plans, have private discussions, etc
How do I create an event?
To post an event click on events and fill out the necessary information, once the event is created it will be visible on the site and it is possible to directly invite friends on the network. Events can be setup as private (only invited people can view the activity or public viewable by all). You can also choose to setup an RVSP function enabling people to respond directly via the site. It is also possible to close an event once it is full, change the settings at anytime by clicking on edit.
How can I add photos and videos?
You can add Photos/Videos directly from your computer by clicking in the appropriate link and following the steps. You can choose to limit how your photos can be viewed in two ways on the network:
1) One is to click on settings, privacy and then set your photo, videos button to viewable by anyone, just your friends on the network or just you (this for all of your upload items on the site).
2) You can adjust privacy settings for each individual photo by clicking on any of your photos, then click on edit and follow the links.
How do I change My Page layout?
When you join the network, a profile page on that network is created for you. Go to My Page and hover your mouse on the title bar of the module you would like to move. If it can be moved, a small crosshair icon will appear to the left. Now just click and drag the module to the desired spot. Certain features on your Profile Page cannot be moved. This includes your profile photo, basic information, and the My Friends box in the left column of the page. Additionally, it's not possible to drag anything to or from the right column
How do I change my profile photo?
Log in to the site and click the "My Settings" link on the right side of the page. Click the "Browse" button under the Profile Photo field to locate an image on your computer. When you upload a new photo, the old one will be deleted. New profile photos can take up to thirty minutes to show up, so don't worry if your new photo doesn't appear immediately.
What is a Tag?
A tag is a one or two keyword description that you are encouraged to add to any postings you make on the site (pictures, forums, etc.). Tags are a simple and easy way to make searching easier by keyword. You can also click on any tagged items and view other postings with similar keywords. If you would like to make a tag longer than one word, please put it in quotes. For example the tag "academic journal" should be in quotes.
How do I change my privacy settings?
To change your privacy settings, click on "My Profile" tab on our header, and scroll down to "Profile Information". Click "Edit", and choose "Privacy" on the left hand side. Here you can control who may view your profile, posts, etc., as well as control what feeds are sent out about your activities.
How do I change my password?
To change your password, click on "My Profile", and then choose "Manage My Page" on the left hand side. Click "Profile". Here you will be able to change your password, the email address associated with your account, and more.
Can I control the number of emails I receive from CrimSpace?
As a member of the site you're in control of your account settings. Click on “My Settings” and then on “E-mail”. You can then choose receive no e-mails or establish customized settings (such as receiving e-mail notices when someone sends you a message. Note at he bottom of each forum or discussion posting you will see a place to click on “Follow (Email me when people reply)”. Click here and you will receive an email letting you know when there is a new posting. At anytime you can return to the page and click on “Stop Following (Don't email when people reply).”
How do I delete myself from the Community?
There are two ways to leave the network. The first is to go to www.ning.com, login and you will this network (along with other Ning based networks you may have joined). Click on leave link and you will be removed from the network. The second method to leave the network is Login to this community and click on “My Settings”. At the bottom of the page you will see a link to leave the network. Click on the link and your account and all the material you have posted will be removed.
How do I report abuse of the site?
CrimSpace is a professional site, and we take all reports of abuse, spam, impersonation, inappropriate behavior, and other disruption very seriously. Although we do not review comments before they are posted, we will remove any offensive or unnecessarily inflammatory material. We will also remove SPAM and any content that is irrelevant to the purposes of our site.
