Why Does Your Facebook Profile have an Inmate Number?

Corrections officers need to be able to access the same areas that their offenders are visiting and oftentimes posting to at will. I am sad to say things just haven’t changed since I wrote about this topic in August of 2011. I am still getting reports that officers both inside and outside prison walls continue to have their Internet access restricted. The …See More

Is Flash Justice the Solution to Flash Riots?

This summer has seen a perverted twist on a phenomenon that started in 2003, specifically flash mobs. Initially flash mobs were organized, usually via social media, for entertainment, fun, even social protests. However, this summer we saw flash mobs being organized for crime. We had the riots in the United…See More

Three C's (Computers, Crimes, and Corrections)

In the interest of full disclosure, I wrote a blog, called the Three C's. One of the things that often occurs is material presented in books and even articles is several months if not years old. This blog trys to tackle topics as they occur. Topics emphasized are the effects of criminal use of computers, including via the Internet on corrections. Cybercrime, digital crime, and/computer crime will be used interchangeably to…See More

The Perfect Storm: Cyberspace Criminality

Recently Match.com made headlines in a bad way. It became the subject of a lawsuit for not properly screening sex offenders from its dating service. You guessed it. One sex offender hooked up online with a female and met and raped her in the real world. Match.com has promised to ratchet up its screening protocols. Craigslist also is in the news. In one case a man was killed and robbed after he responded to an ad to buy something. There is also apparently a Craigslist Ripper, trolling the list…See More

Hackers, Crackers, Tramps and Thieves

Recently, we have saw a “hacker group,”, loosely known as Anonymous wage a denial of service attack (DDoS) against various companies that withdrew services to WikiLeaks. This was done in a supposed noble defense of WikiLeaks. Now it appears the same group has taken credit for attacks against Sony. Why attack Sony? Because Anonymous believes individuals should be able to modify PlaySation3 consoles and Sony’s says they no they shouldn’t be and are fighting the copyright infringement with legal…See More

Have you noticed in the past 10 years the media has turned the criminal justice system into the entertainment "Joke" for example one national cable network did a special on the correctional system within the United States the documentary was educational but strong side of entertainment  all of the networks carry some type of court room show more for entertainment than what its purpose is for. Law schools are requiring their law students to take courses in broadcast communication so that they can understand the role that the media plays in court cases. Where is our criminal justice system going to in the future?

Many thanks, yes I have heard about this new technique but don't know how convenient it is to be used for big sums, taking into account that there are many players in use. However, do please send this article in...much appreciated..
