Welcome to my blog! This is a forum where relevant issues in Criminology and Security Studies will be frequently discussed. All students, researchers and those who wish to read for pleasure and for the purpose of enhancing their knowledge are embraced with open-arms.

In this first edition, I will be discussing briefly on "Security" since the essence of Criminal justice System is to provide 'Security., whether human or economic in outlook. I also want to welcome anyone who has better experience in the field Criminology and Security studies to come on board with any information which can improve the resources of this blog.

I also accept the fact that learning is a continuous process.Therefore, constructive criticisms aimed at adding value to my life and my most cherished audience are acceptable.

                                                           MEANING OF SECURITY

Many people have different approach and concept of what security actually mean and many have tried to define it in their own way based on their area of expertise. According to the South African White Paper on defense 1996, “Security can be defined as an all-encompassing condition in which individual citizen lives in freedom, peace and safety, participate fully in the process of governance, enjoy the protection of fundamental rights, have access to resources and the basic necessities of life; and inhibit an environment which is not detrimental to their health and well-being.”

My honourable colleagues, from the above definition, I want to assure you that if all the elements of security as mentioned above form your aim of undertaking a course in Criminology or Security Studies and if those who aspire to lead others can embrace those facts, I believe that the world will be a safe and better place for all of us. I want you to now that whatever you are doing and there is no SECURITY in it is bound to crash! No matter how beautiful the concept or how professional the person who doing it may be! We all need security to exist on the surface of the earth not just mere convoy of security operatives running after us. Let us work together to promote and enthrone security in all our affairs.
